Warzone - there can only be....

As readers of my blogs and facebook postings, I've been spending a lot of time searching for particular figures or projects.  During this period I have been frustrated by my minds capacity to associate what qualified as a logical place to store or perhaps hide them.

Warzone was for a time a contender here in SE QLD for "threatening" GW and it's strangle hold on the gaming fraternity.  I can remember going to a pokey place on the North Side and meeting with other secessionists to plot and plan the downfall of the evil empire.

Warzone was at the time a stable platform for a game system.  They had "reps" that were "rewarded" for the work they did to push the game and get it out there in people's faces.  What killed it?  Not cheap, even though GW weren't that competitive at the time.  The company having financial problems that lead to it's collapse.

I enjoyed the game.  The figures are chunky to be kind, lead sinkers to others.

Here is my collection.  There is probably five times this lot waiting paint.  I've been quietly picking up figures from old players for a damn decent price.  I intend to launch a dash into the past with this game in the times ahead.

Enjoy!

Mighty Empires - Campaign Play rules & miniatures (1990)

I have had this game knocking around in the shed!  Yes the shed, sheds in Brisbane are not the place to store things with the extreme range of temperatures we get here.  A few years ago (ok I think is was a decade ago) I launched an expedition to recover what games I stupidly had stored there.  My shed has Redback spiders (danger Will Robertson, danger!), Cane Toads (yuck) and reptiles of unknown species (I heard them but refused to investigate (I am a coward where any reptilian is involved).  I rescued a number of games I had forgotten about, some miniatures and a lot of really unhappy memories (my mothers possessions have been untouched since 2003).

I was surprised, most of the game was all there!

I was gobsmacked to find that I got another sheet which was rather well pressed to another.  Hence I can offer this sheet towards any trades/sale if possible to completing this set.

I even found the packer ticket in the box, that's how much I must have played this game.

The People of the Wild Wild West

Here are all the western figures I have painted to date.  I really feel like I want to strip them all back to bare metal and start again, but, my age makes that a silly notion.  They are good enough to play with.

Enjoy.
Civilians.  Something that some Wild West games forget about.

More ladies - including Queen Victoria with shotgun.
Who's not amused now!

The Mexicans.  Or people anywhere south of the Queensland border.

The mob, gunslingers, bounty hunters and toughs.

Mountain Men!

Some Victorians got lost including Prof. Moriarty and Moran.

Some soldier types of the day.

Chinese/oriental ruffians.

Mounted and dismounted models.

Very handy to have the foot figure as well as the mounted version.
Ladies were not forgotten, which is good.

Indians, Native Indians.
Not to be confused with the ones from the sub-continent.

Indians on foot.

The Wild Wild West

Why does a song from the Escape Club always come to mind when I think of the Wild West!

Wild Wild West

I know that I've posted this somewhere else but after talking to my old Greybeard Glen Taylor we have been thinking of Dog Town and getting it up and running again.

Here are the buildings I've built quite some time ago.

Enjoy!

The Town of Dog Town!

The Railway Station, there is even a train ( not seen)

Wednesday Napoleonics

Wednesday night was my Napoleonic night.

Still trying to work out how to beat or even break the French. I need to be able to inflict enough casualties to do anything to them. Considering my columns only have a 1 in 3 chance of actually charging. If I take even one casualty on the way in, I'm (through my usual magnificent die rolling) more than likely to be repulsed and left swinging in the breeze. My artillery seem to suffer a massive problem with dealing any damage at all, and my cavalry always seem to do nothing but force the French into sqaures where they then shoot us, and make us run away.

Going to try skirmishers in the next game to see if this changes anything!

Yes it's depressing, but I need company through the game and my friend Andrew enjoys the same, and it gets him out of the house.

So enjoy the photos
Andrew and his French.  Impressive all lined up.

Lower view of advancing French column.
Guns were doing nothing so I went to line in the hope of doing more.

French advancing.  Rather depressing.

Desperation from the Prussians.

Reformed to column in preparation of the charge.

Flapping in the wind.

Yes, we broke and the center collapses.

More desperate measures.

Not much happening.

Caught between the French and a hard place.

Lancers getting out of the way.

We are very good at holding buildings.
